Sydney's last soccer game

Today was Sydney's last soccer game. I had so much fun this season, screaming in excitement from the sidelines. And Sydney actually started putting some effort into it and it was so cute to see her chasing the ball.
She says "it's boring. All you do is kick a ball around." So I don't know if she'll play again. She wants to go back to swimming.

Kick it Sydney!!

Get it!!

Later, she wanted to go pick flowers from around our property and here's what we found.

Including this iris, which I realize is not a wild flower, but I've never seen them in that spot before and I sure didn't plant them.
Sydney's last day of school will be Thursday. I can't believe she's almost done with Kindergarten! Where did the year go? She's going to be a first grader, sniff sniff. My girl is growing up (and I'm not happy about it!)

Sydney's 6 year pictures

Check out the proofs at this website. They are all so good. I'll have a hard time choosing. We used a local monestary to take the pics at. It's beautiful! See for yourselves!

Just a Sprain this Time

I got a call from school on Friday around 2:00 saying that Sydney had fallen off a slide and fell about 4 feet, landing on her other wrist. The nurse felt like due to her history, I needed to come get her and have it looked at. So I left work early and picked her up. The nurse met me outside the office and said Sydney was doing much better and that if she had been acting like this when she called, she wouldn't have called me. I looked at it and based on Sydney's behavior and knowing how she acted when it was broken, I decided it wasn't (and Sydney agreed). So, we skipped the Immediate Care Center and just went home for some motrin, an ace bandage, an ice pack and a nap. She looks really great with a bandage on each arm now. She refuses to take the black one off, only to bathe. It's really not necessary, but we'll go with it for now and then it might just disappear after the two weeks is up.

I don't know what we're going to do with her. Put her in a bubble? It seems to be our only (and cheapest) option at this point. We've been blaming Sydney's clumsiness on my mother, since she was on crutches 3 times in high school, but she said even she wasn't this bad. Chris said we should start playing the lottery. If her arm had been broken, I seriously would've had a breakdown. But anyway, thank God it's not (seriously, thank you God!). Now I'm trying to convince her that she's got to take the bandages off for her pictures tomorrow. We'll see how that goes!

The cast is off!

This is before school today, with the cast still on...

And this is after. I realize you might be thinking, what's that on her arm? I thought the cast was coming off. Yeah, me too. But the doc says she needs a removable splint when she's playing or being active for the next two weeks. It doesn't have to be worn at home and can be removed for bathing. Yah!!!

Striking a pose. We're getting her pics made next week by Kelly Marsh Photography and I'm kind of hoping we can get some more natural poses, as opposed to these diva like poses.

She's excited the cast is off and I think she likes the splint because she said her wrist hurt when they took the cast off. This makes her feel better.

Sydney's 6th Birthday!

We had Sydney's party this year at a local gymnastics school, like we did on her 4th birthday. Her birthday fell on Mother's Day this year, like it did 6 years ago when she was born, giving me the BEST Mother's Day present ever!
You can see the cast didn't slow her down. I had to keep on her to stay off the monkey bars though.

And swinging over the "cheese" pit.

Blowing out the candles

Up in the party room

And opening all her gifts. You only have a half hour up in the party room, so you have to eat cake, sing, and open presents pretty quickly. It's so rushed, but the parties there are great and the kids LOVE it! You can also do swim parties and bounce house parties. Next year we might do a combo party of some sort.

Zoo Field Trip

Sydney's class took a field trip to the zoo today and I went with her. We had fun and it was nice to spend the day with her and some of her friends.
Here we are waiting for the zoo to open.

GIRAFFES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sydney and her other red headed half, Claire, petting the goats.

These meerkats are so freakin' cute! I love 'em! Look how he's sitting!

The gorilla getting a drink of water. Fortunately, the baby with half a missing leg wasn't on display.

A nesting bald eagle. That was neat to see!

And this was even better. That man told us that she had been staring at him like that and was primping her hair for him and then went over and got a piece of grass and stuck it through this little hole at the top of the glass that she has figured out is there to give it to him. It was so cool!

Daddy and Daughter Time

The painting of the wooden tiger got a little out of hand and Sydney ended up with whiskers.

Snuggles!

awww, even the dog's in on it. It's ok cause she's a girl.
