Serious download

So, Sunday we went to see "Wicked". And this is a pic of us at mom's before we left. I really enjoyed the story, I could've done without all the singing, but I understand it's a musical and therefore it's somewhat required.

So, again, this crap is out of order, but here are some after pictures of our guest/my office. I painted this past weekend and just got it all put back together. I love it!

Curtains! I'm so excited!
This is before. Blah

More blah. The after is a definite improvement.

This is what Sydney decided to wear to my mom's house on Sunday. A fuzzy purple scarf, a Disney princess shirt, a metallic silver dress up skirt, pink tights and rain boots. What a fashionista!

This is Sydney after our fun night out Friday. I took her to Earth and Fire to paint some magnets as a reward for earning 10 more stars on her bedtime chart. Apparently, it was exhausting. She wants her next reward to be to paint a shirt (well, she really wants a dress, but I told her we might have a hard time finding a simple cotton dress this time of year). She really loves to paint. So much so, that she painted something on a canvas tonight and now wants me to hang it in the guest room. I gently suggested maybe we could hang it in her room, but she's not having it.

No pics available

My camera is out of batteries and for some reason, the rechargeable batteries aren't recharging. I don't know what's going on. But as soon as I can, I promise to post a picture of Sydney's hair. We've been doing a bedtime star chart for Sydney, since it was a real problem for her to stay in her bed. And to get to sleep without me laying down next to her. So, for every night that she goes to bed without a fuss and without me next to her, she gets 1 star. And if she stays in her bed all night, she gets another star. So, the potential is there to get 2 stars a day. And it takes 10 stars to get a prize. The prize is of her choosing (within reason), so she's a little more motivated to work towards it. She has her nights where she says she needs me, but on the whole, this thing has been a huge success! We've already achieved 3 prizes. For her first prize, she got to go to Chuck E. Cheese's. The second prize, she got to go to McDonald's and play in the playplace. Her third prize was a barbie doll (the least expensive one...the Beach party barbie, found at Wal-Mart for $5.44) And next, she wants to paint something, so I'm going to take her to Earth and Fire pottery so she can pick out something to paint and they can fire it. I think that will be so much fun!

Geez people!

For those of you who have been harrassing me (and you know who you are) about my non blogging, I'm going to post the most boring blog you've ever read. And it's not out of spite, there just hasn't been anything exciting going on. Hence, why I haven't blogged. But you people just won't quit!
Um, so I went to the movies last night with the intention of seeing Seven Pounds. I was psyched, I was ready, I stood in a long ass line to get tickets, only to get up there and realize we had the wrong movie times. So, we had to go see Gran Torino instead. Which I really liked, so it was all good. But I'm still going to see Seven Pounds
While I was there, I dropped my phone in a toilet. And yes, I fished it out. I know, I know, but I just couldn't leave it there. I think it's unsalvageable however. I'm still working on it. Sorry Paula, no pics available of that.
On Wednesday, on the way to work, I hit a large dog. I don't think I killed it, but Sydney asked what had just happened. At first I tried to tell her "nothing", but she kept persisting, so I told her we hit a dog. I fully expected her to freak, but she camly replied "well, he shouldn't have been in the road." She is truly her daddy's daughter.
I woke up this morning and Sydney had cleaned her room all on her own! It looked very nice (meaning you can see the floors). I'm sure I'll have to go in there and tidy up a bit.
Also, we're making progress on our floor! We bought one pack of laminate flooring from Sam's to bring it home to see the thickness, so we'd know what we'll have to do with the trim, etc...And we decided we will probably not be putting it in the living room. Not, at least, while we have pets. There was hair all over that floor. Ughh! So, I guess we might get new carpet eventually.
Sydney started gymnastics again this past week. She was so bad at the beginning of class, I was about to pull her out and just call it a day. But she warmed up and did her little routines like she was supposed to. She told me she just didn't want to do the stuff in the beginning (warm up exercises). I told her she had to do that stuff so she wouldn't hurt herself later. We'll see how this next week goes.
And really, that's all there is. See, I told you it was boring.

Christmas 2008

The Barbie house was Sydney's big gift from Santa this year. Although I didn't get the response I expected from her when she saw it, I know she loves it and has already completely ransacked it. So, it's getting some use.

Christmas morning. She needed the Aquadoodle since she tells me that our walls just look like paper and that's why she writes on them.

She REALLY wanted this movie

Our family on Christmas Eve. I don't know what her problem was. And Chris looks like he might be part of the mafia.

Her new winter coat from Great Aunt Sissy. Very pretty, and not white, like last year's!

My niece, Cali, opening her HSM bulletin board we got her.

Pure Christmas joy and excitement! They were both so beautiful in their pretty dresses. I originally had Sydney in jeans and a turtleneck so she'd be comfortable, but she insisted on the dress. I'm happy she did. Otherwise, Addison would've shown her up!

Chris and his mom. Awwww

They love each other soooo much!

This is what I found, Sydney passed out, BEFORE we even left the house to go to his mom's. So sweet though. I don't have any pics from my mom's Christmas, cause I left the camera at home. Ooops. So now Dad has to put his pics on a CD for me or whatever. So, now Sydney has her new toys strewn throughout the house in true day after Christmas fashion and is, for some reason, watching an old movie instead of a new one. Sigh... Time to clean up! Hope everyone had a good holiday!

Singing in Church and other cute pics

Once again, my pics are out of order and my OCD is really acting up, but I'll work through it.
This is how she was sleeping the other day during nap time. Reminds me of Chris.

This is Sydney after church, snuggling the dog in the "warm shadow" as she called it.

This is Sydney being a butthead during church. She was supposed to be singing and wanted NO part of it! Which is too bad, cause they were cute! She just wasn't in a good mood this morning. I had a hard time even getting her to go to class. I think it had something to do with her being sick yesterday.

I even fixed her hair in curls for the occasion! BTW, I did this with my straight iron, which I realize sounds contradictory, but it is a machine of much versatility!

My pretty girl! She looks so old in this picture.

Posing in her new Christmas dress. Of course, the dog just has to stick her nose in everything.

A picture Sydney took of the dog. I think she did a pretty good job. Please ignore the still unfinished floor. We are a house of procrastinators.

And finally, this is what Sydney wanted to wear to swim class last week. Much to her dismay, she had to change, since it was cold outside.

Prayers

The other night, we were supposed to be following Chris to a restaurant where we were meeting friends. I know where this restaurant is and could find my way there if I had to, but always get confused which turn to take off the highway. So, I couldn't see him up ahead of me and Sydney asked where he was. I told her I didn't know, but I hoped we could find him, cause I wasn't sure exactly how to get where we were going. So, she told me she'd ask God to help us find him. So, I said "you're going to pray about it?" And she said yes, so she closes her eyes, folds her hands and bows her head and said something along the lines of "God, please help us find dada so we know where to go." It was soooo sweet! Then she settles back in and a few minutes later, she says "you know how some kids pick their boogers?" To which I replied "yes, but we don't do that, do we?" She told me no, she didn't, but she wanted to pray for the other kids to stop picking their boogers. So, she bows her little head, folds her hands again, and says "God, please let the other kids stop picking their boogers. Amen." So, this is the largest concern apparantly to a 4 year old. It cracked me up!!

The tree is up

Aww, poor kitty. Held against his will.

Sydney decided to hang this old tree skirt from the knob of the door. It's for Santa, he'll think it's beautiful.

I think this is one of the pics we'll be using for our cards this year.

Putting up the tree was exhausting for Cori.

All finished!
We put the tree up in the basement this year, since the upstairs is a war zone of missing flooring and possible painting. Sydney hung pretty much every ornament this year and did a pretty good job. She really got into helping me.
